Description
by Maeve McGrath
Boiling Point by Maeve McGrath captures the suspended moment just before release—when energy builds, simmers, and finally dares to break the surface. Rendered in deep oxblood, pomegranate lacquer, and resin-dark crimson, the piece evokes pressure held in place: heat layered into pigment, gloss, and tension.
The surface appears to tremble, as if breath has passed over it. Beneath the gloss, movement churns—like syrup under pressure or emotion too long contained. There is something alchemical at work here: the transformation of heat into colour, and colour into feeling. Boiling Point doesn’t erupt—it radiates. Quietly. Intensely.
